Step-by-step setup
Install TiViMate
Android TV and Google TV take it from the Play Store. Firestick needs the APK sideloaded through Downloader. No Apple, Samsung or LG build exists, so those screens use IPTV Smarters instead.
Add a playlist
Open TiViMate, choose Add playlist, then Xtream Codes login. Enter the server URL, username and password from your activation message and press Next.
Name the playlist and load
Give it an obvious name, then let channels and guide download. You are asked which categories to include; anything chosen now can be changed later, so do not labour over it.
Set up the guide
Under Settings, TV guide, set the update interval to 12 hours. The guide source comes with the Xtream login, so there is no separate EPG URL to track down.
Optional: activate Premium
Premium is bought through the TiViMate Companion app on a phone rather than on the television, which catches people out. It costs about $9.99 a year, or a one-off lifetime price in the high thirties, after a 7-day trial. It unlocks recording, catch-up, multi-view and up to five devices on one Premium account, which suits a household running several screens.
Common errors and fixes
TiViMate says "playlist could not be loaded"
Check the server URL includes its port and that the plan is still active. Then type the password by hand instead of pasting it, since text copied from a chat often carries an invisible trailing space.
Guide shows "no information"
Force a refresh from Settings, TV guide, Update now, then close and reopen the app so it rereads the data.
